Atahan Çiftçi was born in Istanbul in 1995. The artist, who started his music career by playing the oud at the age of 12, started taking oud lessons from Fikret Işıkçı. During his high school years, he started to play the bass guitar studied jazz harmony with Emrah Sarıtunalılar. He took part in the student orchestra of Istanbul Erkek High School for 5 years. He performed bass guitar and oud with various jazz, blues and rock bands. In 2012, he represented our country in the bass guitar category and won the second prize in the European-wide competition "Jugend Musiziert". After this competition, he gave concerts in Turkey and Europe, solo and with his own project.

Atahan Çiftçi, who took part in leading jazz projects, such as Gagarin Jazz Band, in Istanbul during and after his university years, is currently recording and performing with the “Udgang” project.

Presenting the oud with simplicity and a distinctive harmony, Udgang introduces a unique blend of Turkish music and jazz timbres. Inspired from mainly Turkish Music, the project touches various cultures from Far East to Africa and reveals diverse sounds and grooves.
